Marine Cable Solutions
At Sandin Manufacturing, we offer high-quality marine cable and boat lift solutions that withstand the harsh conditions of marine settings. Our inventory includes numerous cable sizes, including 3/16″, 1/4″, 5/16″, and 3/8″ diameters, available in Type 304 and Type 316 stainless steel grades. From lift systems and mooring lines to dock suspension and more, our marine and boat lift cables deliver dependable performance across a range of applications.
What Is a Boat Lift Cable?
Boat lift cables are critical elements of boat lift systems, responsible for raising and lowering watercraft smoothly and safely. These cables are available in stainless steel and galvanized steel constructions, offering strength and corrosion resistance essential for marine applications. However, because boat lift cables endure significant stress and environmental exposure, even the highest quality cables can experience wear over time. As such, it’s important to perform regular maintenance and inspections to ensure continued safe operation.
Sandin Manufacturing produces cables specifically for harsh marine environments, helping to extend service life while maintaining strength and reliability.
Types of Boat Lift Cables
Choosing the right boat lift cable depends on factors such as load requirements, environmental conditions, and desired longevity. At Sandin Manufacturing, we offer the following types:
- Galvanized Steel Cables. Galvanized cables are coated with a layer of zinc oxide through a hot-dip galvanizing process to enhance their corrosion resistance. This cost-effective option is well-suited for freshwater applications but may be less durable in saltwater environments.
- Stainless Steel Cables. Our Type 304 and Type 316 stainless steel boat lift cables offer excellent corrosion resistance, with Type 316 being especially suited for saltwater applications thanks to its molybdenum content.
- Coated Cables. Nylon or vinyl coatings can be added to boat lift cables for added protection against corrosion and abrasion. This helps to prolong the cable’s lifespan and reduce wear on pulleys and other cable components.
Most boat lift cables we offer feature 7×19 configurations, meaning they are constructed with 7 individual strands, each of which comprises 19 individual wires. This construction offers a balance of strength and flexibility, making it suitable for diverse boat lift applications.
Cable Applications for the Boat Lift and Marine Industry
Our marine-grade cables support various applications throughout the boat lift and marine industries. Common applications include:
- Boat Lift Systems. Whether you’re working with vertical or cantilever boat lifts, our cables provide the strength needed to lift and lower boats of varying sizes and weights.
- Dock Suspension and Support. Our cables are used to secure and stabilize docks, helping maintain level positioning while ensuring structural integrity.
- Mooring and Anchoring Lines. Our cables are frequently used for anchoring and mooring systems, providing the strength and durability needed to secure vessels in place in challenging environments.
- Personal Watercraft (PWC) Lifts. We can provide specialized boat lift cables that meet the unique requirements of lifting and lowering jet skis and other small watercraft.
